Gift of Life Volunteer TrainingTuesday, July 15, 20258:00 AM - 8:30 AMVirtual TrainingLink provided prior to start of training.
Gift of Life is a registry facilitating bone marrow transplants for blood cancer patients in the United States and abroad. Tissue type is inherited, like eye or hair color, meaning the best chance of finding a genetic match lies with those of similar race and ethnicity. This means Jewish donors are often the best match for Jewish patients.
The Jewish Federation of Greater Portland is putting together a team of volunteers to undergo training on collecting cheek swabs and adding potential donors to the Marrow Registry. After training, this team of volunteers will be called upon to table and register donors at community events.
Join us for a virtual training in advance of our first registration drive on July 24, 2025. Even if you are unable to attend this upcoming registration drive, completing your training makes you eligible to run future drives. Once trained, volunteers are eligible to register community members for the Marrow Registry for a full year.
If you have any questions about this program, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Merit Pinker, at [email protected].
